Sir Wilford Guthlac of Bromley is a Knight Captain of the Knights of Holy Shielding commanding Hydra Company based in The Trimarch near his ancestral home of Bromley. As a Knight Captain in the Holy Shielding, he ranks as a Knight Companion in the order of noble precedence and should be addressed as “most Worthy Sir” by all except members of his order, who address him as “Captain”.

He was the fourth son of his father Baron Marshal, so he joined the order and became a Sworn Knight. They all three of his older brothers were killed and since Wilford was unable to take the barony, as bound by vows to the order, it was passed to his younger brother Titus and then his nephew Zander.
