After the Falcone crew opened up the port of Gotham to bootlegging, The Chicago Outfit under Al Capone sent one of his own captains, Tony "Two Bits" Maroni to set up their own operation. At first Falcone and Maroni were violent adversaries, but with the advent of Lucky Luciano's national Mafia Commission, the two crews were promoted to families and ordered to make peace.

The Maroni Family is centered in the East End, with their headquarters in the Columbus Social Club.
