The fertile grasslands south of the Long Wood have become a focus for settlement from the north. Two independent Freeholds, Castle Balth and Castle Codros, have been established by Kotharians in the last half-century. They are each surrounded by heavily cultivated farmland dotted with thriving farming villages beholden to the castles.
Castle Balth: ruled by Lord Marcus Balth, the son of the founder, who was a Kotharian soldier of repute.
Castle Codros: ruled by the mysterious Gotho Codros, reputedly a wizard of immense power who is said to have built the castle itself by sorcery and who lets the day-to-day operations to his lieutenant Big Mike Rostoff.
