Father Uhtbrand was a successful soldier until he had a religious experience and gave it up to join the church. He looks like a tough hombre with a face like a busted up plank of hickory. He tries to be gentle and kind, forgoing worldly ambitions and goods, but his soldier's temper lies just beneath the surface. He handles much of the sacramental duties for the monks of St. Martha's.
