Living Expenses

  • Player Characters: At the start of the session, each player counts-up the total HD/Levels of his PC, henchmen, horses, and any retainers that remained in his service. Then multiply that total by the number of in-game days since his character last adventured. If the player owns sufficient buildings to house all his entourage, divide the total in half. This final total is the number of gold pieces he has spent on food, shelter, entertainment, equipment repair and replacement, training and booze. If he doesn’t have enough money to cover the tab, he has just spent all of his money.
  • NPC Background Data: your average farmer, craftsman, etc., needs to spend 1 sp per day for basic necessities. Typically, “labor costs” of the background for crafting, farm income, etc. allow for 1 to 1.5sp per day. This should be rarely a direct in-game factor, but is the calculus used to come up with various other costs.
