| | Created out of a legendary multi-national alliance from the equally legendary human homeworld millenia ago, the United World Alliance was the galactic government of all humanity for many thousands of years. After the Galactic Civil War of about 500 years ago, the UWA was broken and humanity divided into a large number of small stellar states including [[ugh|The Union of Galactic Humanity (U.G.H.)]] which reaches from a set of ancient, wealthy Core Planets to the Frontier of known space. Because of its wedge-like shape reaching from the core of the galaxy out toward the rim, it is colloquially known as "The Slice." It is bordered by two very similar polities – [[guh|The Galactic Union of Humanity (G.U.H.)]], and [[hug|The Human Union for the Galaxy (H.U.G.)]]. All three states have almost identical government and economic structures, based on the bureaucratic ideals of the UWA. |
