=====THE FORBIDDEN ZONE=====

The Forbidden Zone is an area of 9 star sectors (3 by 3) within the U.G.H. the entry to which is strictly outlawed to anyone but specifically authorized naval vessels.  It is well known that any vessel caught in the Forbidden Zone by the Naval Interdiction Fleet is immediately blasted to slag without any communication.

The official reason for this zone of exclusion is that during the Civil War that ended U.W.A. one faction released a series of biological agents on these worlds and some malicious A.I. computer virus weapons across the central sector.  These weapons made the area too dangerous for anyone to enter.  The records of this time have been doctored and altered so many times, however, that there is no way to confirm any of this.

There are several alternate theories as to the reason.   It may be that the area is used a dumping ground for undesirable dissidents from the UGH and its allies.  It may be that the area was the home sectors of an alien empire that was blasted to pieces by Planet-Cracking Omega bombs early in the history of the UWA.  It might be that certain features in the center sector give humans uncontrollable psychic powers.  It may even be that the region contains a portal to a hell-scape dimension.
