When Doctor Valiant came to Gotham in 1933, and founded Universal Rescue, one of his first assistants hired was the experienced hunter and tracker, Walter Johnson. Johnson had extensive experience as a guide and hunt master in Africa before returning to Gotham, when his father died at the hands of Gotham gangsters. Walter worked for the building commissioner (whether undercover for Doctor Valiant or as a day job, it is unclear).

Walter Johnson was murdered by The East Siders Gangsometime in late February, 1934. His body was not found until the spring when it washed up on the southern shores of Blanchaven in two halves.

He is survived by his mother Ethel, who lives in a row home in Blanchaven.
