Remo Universal

Remo Universal is a law firm established by a dozen unemployed lawyers in late 1929. The men had all lost their jobs, but managed to scrape together enough money to rent a cheap office and go into business. Realizing the sudden immense need for bankruptcy litigation, they focused all their efforts there. Soon, they were a roaring success, moving into offices in The Herald building near the courthouse.

While each of the partners makes a comfortable living, slightly over half of the firm's profits are spent on pro bono work for the poor and desperate. More often than not, this pro bono work is paid for by the firm, but carried out by independent attorneys, or even other firms.
