NPC EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES

Since most NPC's are built using the “Monster Math” from 5TD Rules, but use the very same equipment as the Player Characters, there are some adjustment to be made for NPCs/Human “Monsters”

ARMOR CLASS

Most NPC's get their AC from the actual armor worn:

  • AC 17: Heavy Armor and Shield
  • AC 15: Heavy Armor, no shield
  • AC 14: Light Armor and Shield
  • AC 12: Light Armor OR Shield
  • AC 10: No Armor

Exceptions:

  • If the NPC is a “Leader”, “Predator” or “Shaper” type, you may replace the AC from armor type with 10 plus the “Normal” modifier
  • If the NPC is a “Sniper” type, you may replace the AC from armor type with 10 plus the “Strong” modifier.

WEAPON DAMAGE

  • If the NPC is 3rd HD or less, use the Weapon Damage listed in the equipment tables.
  • If the NPC is 4th HD or higher, use the Weapon damage listed on the Monster Math table for Martial Weapon attacks, but use half that number for Simple Weapon damage (or their listed damage, whichever is higher). The increased damage for main, martial weapons represents the STR/DEX bonus, multiple attacks, and class features and the like rolled into a higher average damage.
