=====The Principality of Algart====

When the colonists from Karlsland established the Dukedoms of Thranconia and Great Vale in the early 1200's, they came into conflict with an ancient human kingdom known as the Golden League of the Algarians.  After a few small border wars, the so-called God-King of the League was convinced to swear fealty to the Realm and was thereafter styled Prince of [[algart|Algart]],the League's Capital, in YOR 1272.

The union caused an economic boon to both sides.  The increase in trade was the direct cause of the founding of the city of Emporion in the 1300's, since its natural harbor was ideal for the increase in shipping.

The destruction of Great Vale in the 1400's in many ways drove the Principality into isolation.  while Algart is still part of The Realm, and follows The Law, their customs seem strange and their interpretation of The Law seem strange to outsiders.  The princely family has maintained an unbroken line of descent from the God-Kings, and considers itself by far more truly noble and well born than any other noble house they've met. The relationship with the Dukes of Thranconia has been strictly formal for a long age, but the Princes never let it be forgotten that they are ahead of the Dukes in precedence.

The [[algart|City of Algart]] is the largest and wealthiest in the Principality, and the Prince rules from a great marble palace from here.  He choses Archons from the noble families to rule over the 5 other smaller towns and various castles of the land (these are counted as Barons of The Realm).

While the human population is the solid majority, a fair number of Cyclopian, satyr and half-orc communities exist in the prinipality.
