Prospectors
Prospectors is the Space Patrol term for humans from Earth or the older, core world colonies of The New Earth League who have gotten a ship and have gone to the far frontier to seek a fortune. While some are literal prospectors, looking for mineral deposits, most are traders, mercenaries, con-men or corporate agents. Most are not hostile to the Space Patrol, but they do have the effect of complicating relations between the patrol and the lost colonies.
