-=====The Space Patrol!=====+=====Space Patrol Relevant Regulations=====

-Founded in 2405 AD, the Space Patrol was designed to fulfil one of[[nel|The New Earth League]] primary goals: to unite humanity in mutual defense alliance, free of control or meddling by alien species.  At first, the NEL Space Fleet attempted to handle the distant survey and contact dutiesbut it was found to neglect the duty in favor of its core military responsibilities.  In response, Space President Berk created the Space Patrol to handle all actions outside the boundaries of League systems.+ The members of [[space_patrol|The Space Patrol]] are governed by series of rules and regulations issued by the Command Staff.   They are divided into two major categories: Standing Orders and Field Operations Regulations.  Patrolmen are held to account for violation of either sortbut consider the Standing Orders to be more importanthaving to do with the basic goals and function of the patrol.  The Field Operations Regulations are more like a means of keeping the organization running smoothly and with discipline.  While you can assume a host of regulations, like "Don't slap each other" and "don't break stuff", below are a list of important regulations that are more likely to impact game play.

-The Patrol is organized in Squadrons, each of 4 to 20 spaceships and their carried vehicles and craft.  Each squadron has a headquarters base, such as [[hercules_station|Hercules Station]] and is commanded by a Senior Patrol Leader and his deputy, an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.  The SPL is in charge of assignments, leaders multi-ship missions, oversees operations of both the squadron and the base.  The ASPL is in charge of requisitions and supplies, monitoring maintenance and regulations and much of the other administrative and detail work (hence, the unpopular nickname Ass-Pull often applied to the job).+===List of Game-Play Relevant Regulations===

-The SPL's report to the Command Staff and High Commander based on the moon of Titan of Saturn.+**Standing Order #1**:\\
 +As Artificial Intelligence is an existential danger to all life in the universe, every member of the Space Patrol is commanded to destroy any robot, A.I. computer, or computer system that is capable of electronic communication with any other machine.  No means is off limits. No intentional delay is permitted.  Any being who participated in the creation or maintenance or use of such devices are to be arrested and returned to NEL authorities.
 +
 +**Standing Order #2**\\
 +The jurisdiction of the Space Patrol is all of space outside of the NEL borders wherever humans are.
 +
 +**Standing Order #7**\\
 +Patrol vessels shall always attempt to respond and render assistance to distress calls from any vessel not known to be hostile.  Priority is to be given to human-crewed vessels over non-human ones.
 +
 +**Field Operations Regulation #24**\\
 +While on duty in a spacecraft, a Patrolman is required to wear his issued Flight Suit uniform and carry his side arm.  He may not carry any main weapon unless he has been assigned to a guard post by his captain. If boarding action is imminent, the commanding officer shall sound code Red and all crew should become as heavily armed and armored as practical.
 +
 +**Field Operations Regulation #37**\\
 +Patrolmen may use any items encountered in emergency situations in the course of their duties.  However, they may not confiscate such items unless such items were being used in criminal activity.  Patrolmen may use confiscated items with the permission of their commanding officer until such time their vessel has returned to base, at which time it shall be logged and turned over to base command.
