The Gazette is considered a stuffy, no-nonsense paper where one goes for the serious news.  It avoids all sorts of sensationalism and triple checks its facts. Its front page is instantly recognizable, there is always exactly one photograph, located on the bottom left side of the page.

Its city/crime beat reporter [[Ace Freely|Ace Freely]] is a dogged news hound and has a national reputation.  [[Margo Humphries|Margo Humphries]] is a rising star at the paper, technically on the society beat, she has managed to break some important crime stories too.
