ZONE 2: THE MARCH OF CHRONOS

EDL-2

Dominant Terrain: Cultivated Farmland
Settlements: City of Polychronopolis, Farmington
Features: Castle Argon, Castle Amra, Temple Horizon, Temple Zureth, Rathgard, R3

When Polychron conquered Grag the Wicked and added it to the Kingdom of Kotharia, he organized the good farmland to the north of the city into the March of Chronos (named from his family naming tradition). The Haramantian humans, Half-elves and Half-orc farmers from the area near the city were soon augmented by a large wave of Kotharian humans, together with some halflings and doggers to fill up the area up to the northern edge of the map and to put the entire territory under intense cultivation.

While, the City is ruled by the Podesta and the Great Houses, the rest of the Marchland is ruled by a Marcher Lord with his seat at Castle Argon (his heir usually holds Castle Amra from him). The Marcher Lords have all been descendants of Polychron himself (having had over a dozen children, his line has never come close to dying out). The current Marcher is Lord Theofrastus II.

The Town of Farmington: this is a bustling agricultural town of nearly 10,000 people involved in trades that support the multitude of farmers there about. The town is over 90% Kotharian human in population.

The Fortress of Rathgard is home to a regiment of standing soldiers of the King, under an appointed High Captain. The regiment is known as the Death Falcons, and is made up of 2 companies of Heavy Cavalry, 2 companies of Medium Cavalry, a company of crossbowmen, a company of pikemen and 2 companies of heavy foot. The current High Captain is Tedward Sturgis, an ineffectual cousin of one of the Queen of Kotharia's favorites. The regiment's standing orders are to support the Podesta against rebellion or civil unrest in the city, and to obey the Marcher Lord in defending the city and the March against invasion (unless there are specific regulations to the contrary).

Temple Zureth is a truly ancient site, dating back to the age of Elves. It has a Silver Elf clergy, and only Silver Elf and Half-elves are permitted to work in the temple at all. It is dedicated to the Queen of Madness and the Slaughter King. Most people think it's wicked spooky, and the Lawful clergy constantly petition the Marcher and the King for it to be shut down, however, there is an ancient treaty that prevents this.

Temple Horizon is about 150 years old, it is a large complex with chapels to all of the Lawful gods. It contains the tomb of St. Horizon the Amazing which is said to perform miracles for the pure of heart.

R3–The Broken Tower of Thorgok, a ruined and shunned fortress ruin that was built by an orcish warlord in the era of Chaos.
