Each ward is authorized to deputize patrols to prevent petty crime after dark.  Squads of 10 XC men, half with a lantern and baton, half with a bill will patrol neighborhoods and respond for calls for help.  They mostly deter and drive off criminals.  If they capture any criminals, they are turned over to the [[podesta|PODESTA]].
