However, the group gets lost and turns on itself, resorting to mutiny and cannibalism until Fergus alone miraculously emerges over three hundred miles South of where he entered the underworld. Fergus died addled and penniless after selling his notes on the new world to a royal scribe of King Godwin.  This scribe was entranced by what he had read and commissioned many copies of the work to travel back to London and encourage emigration to Kingston. The work captured the imagination of Europe, and helped spur a flow of immigrants to the new world.
