=====THE ABBEY OF ST. MARTHA AT JORVIKBURG=====

Located at the South end of Queen Street in [[jorvikburg|Jorvikburg]], the Abbey is an active monastery within the town walls.  Before his supernatural murder in Octobe, 1130 ([[game_logs|see log 23]]) The Abbot, [[abbot_laurens_of_cluny|Laurens of Cluny]] was a reform-minded, active and vigorous leader.  [[father_uhtbrand|Father Uhtbrand]] is the chaplain, tending to the duties that require an ordained priest.  There are 12 full-brothers at the abbey and their chief occupations are prayer, copying sacred texts and helping the poor of the town.
