  It was begun in August 576, and the first rendition, a timber outpost, finished in early September.   The outpost was paid for, planned and the construction guarded by [[sirjohn|Sir John of Gerk]] to serve as his home and as a base for his allies during their expeditions to Petestone Keep and the nearby sections of the Bandit Kingdoms.  The post is located in the hills around the abandoned mine that some of Sir John's comrades had cleared of filthy hoborgs.  +The castle was attacked by bugbears and giants in July 577, leading to the destruction of all the wooden buildings and the loss of 12 mercenary crossbowmen, and the stone barn and many horses.  A temporary wooden barn was hastily built to hold new horses.  The stone bunkhouse was gallantly held by 12 mercenary spearmen and the tower was never breached.  The invaders were all destroyed.
