Shabby Town

While The Bowery is filled with winos, opium fiends, and other derelicts, Shabby Town is far more tragic. Here have come the unemployed, forced from their homes due to the Depression. Drifters, searching for work who have given up moving. More families can be seen here than one would ever conscience.

Shabby Town is along the eastern end of Robinson Park, far from the Reservoir and the museum. It is a bunch of shacks and shanties hastily put together from debris or stolen building materials. Various charities attempt to tend to the want, but the city's useless Relief Commission has no real presence. The Wound Ravens prey on the poor folk here, extorting a pittance for “rent.”
