Nine Lives appears to be an ordinary bar in the Bowery, except there are always a couple of beefy bouncers out front to keep out the usual Bowery derelicts and winos. The real importance of the Nine Lives is the large indoor “market” which can be reached through the back of the bar, or through a warehouse door from the alley out back. The market is in operation Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6 until midnight. Here underworld figures from all over town come and buy, sell or swap all manner of ill-gotten gains. The Wound Ravens run the swap meet and take a $5 fee per entrant.
