Session/Game: Savage Worlds Orion 2

Episode 2: Dendricon Station

Prologue:
It was supposed to be an easy assignment. The three new knights were to represent the Royal Government at the official opening of a Cargo Transfer Satellite orbiting Dendricon 5, a Sybokian colony. They were sharing champagne and caviar with Xenophon, the ruling High Wizard of Dendricon, his daughter Princess Allura, and his nephew Prince Oswald. Just then all of the station’s interior doors flew open and a commando team of Mavorian shock troops appeared guns a-blazing. Xenophon and Allura stood still, in shock. Prince Oswald seemed to have disappeared, and our three heroes found themselves in a fight for their lives, armed only with their knightly molecular swords.

SCENE 1: The Fight on Dendricon Station
Mavorian troops poured in, seizing most of the station. Hollis Dupont used his psychic powers to cause a squad to flee. He then tried to teleport himself, Xenophon and Allura to the Royal Shuttle, but he failed. Then Xenophon and Allura recovered from their surprise and Xenephon managed to teleport himself and his daughter to the shuttle. Meanwhile the Mavorians slowly massacred the station crew and the Apeman security detail. Dupont leapt to the access lift and fought his way to the upper deck. He drove away some of the Mavorians and got into the Royal Shuttle.
Meanwhile, Sleestack and Bloodblade fought their way to the lower deck, in order to retrieve their weaponry from the bunkroom. Bloodblade was severely shot up by the Mavorians, but Sleestack retrieved his laser rifle and hand flamer, killing a few of the enemy troopers. They then were warned by radio by Allura that a second attack shuttle was about to dock with the station. She flew the royal craft down toward the lower deck where Sleestack teleported himself and Bloodblade across to the shuttle.
SCENE 2: Flight of the Royal Shuttle
Allura, now wearing her piloting bikini, discovered two disturbing facts: there was a bomb planted on the ship, and there were 3 Mavorian pursuit ships chasing them. Allura started working on defusing the bomb. Xenophon cured Sleestack’s and Bloodblade’s wounds. Sleestack, an ace pilot, took control of the ship, while Hollis and Bloodblade manned the blaster turrets. Bloodblade’s huge mitts immediately fouled the controls of the second turret. Hollis managed to damage one of the pursuit ships, and the shuttle took a hull hit as well. But, Sleestack’s amazing pilot skills allowed them to escape beneath the clouds of Dendricon. Allura managed to defuse the bomb successfully.
After much discussion and thought, it was determined that Prince Oswald must have betrayed them. Radio contact proved that another member of the royal clan, Cousin Pierce, had been murdered. The sabotage of the station’s security system and bomb on the shuttle pointed to an inside job with the aim of seizing power. Allura also discovered that the planetary defense grid was deactivated.
The High Wizard insisted on being deposited at the Tower of Solitude, in order to mediated and formulate a plan. Allura and Hollis, however, decided to act immediately after dropping off Xenophon. They contacted Clovis, head of planetary security, who assembled a force of 10 Apeman troopers and 5 Sybokian witches to help them.
SCENE 3: Attack on the Defense Grid
Mavorian Assault Troopers were in possession of the Defense Grid facility. Bloodblade had the witches teleport him and several of the apemen onto the grid towers, and they punished the Mavorians in the center with grenades and Stun Blasts. Sleestack and a squad of apes swept up the outer Mavorian guards. Hollis moved in and used Psionic Fear to put the enemy leader, a Psi-Priest named Ak-Ak-AK-Mak-Bak-Ak-Ak into panicked flight. He and a few other troopers escaped in their spaceship, while the apes cleared up the rest. Allura and the remaining witches got the defense grid reactivated, and the world was saved. Two of the witches and 3 of the apes were killed in the fighting.
Allura and Hollis engaged in some meaningful dialogue while things were being put right before the three knights returned to their King on Orion.
